  In 2015, I had Fred Stevens prepare my taxes. Fred Stevens works in two offices, one at the City Center location, the other at Temescal (both in Oakland). It was the first time I’ve decided to use a professional service for my taxes. I’ve been doing my taxes via TurboTax for the past 10 years, never without a hiccup.
  
  I decided to go to H&R block for my 2015 returns due to the complicated stock investments from my current employer. I figured, a professional will give me peace of mind. Boy was I wrong. It’s the exact opposite.
  
  A few weeks ago, I received a letter from the IRS stating that my 2015 taxes were filed Incorrectly and that I now owe $8,885. I was completely shocked and appalled given the fact that I knew that was the exact year I had Fred Stevens from H&R Block file my taxes.
  
  I called back Fred Stevens with complete urgency. It took him a few days to call me back. I faxed over to him the necessary documents for him to “take a look at”. From there after 5 days of no response, I decided to track him down. He says “he was busy but needed more information”. So I faxed him again more documents… waited 5 more days of non response. Again I had to proactively track him down. This time he mentions, “It was his fault and he filed the taxes incorrectly but I would still have to pay the $8,885 to the IRS. Because I didn’t get the “Peace of Mind” Insurance Guarantee that H&R Block Offers”.
  
  I don’t understand why I would have to spend extra money for “Peace of Mind” when these are professionals whom I initially went to for, Peace of Mind.
  
  In the end, Fred Stevens said he will “try to make a claim” for me, but ultimately I don’t believe in his lies. Their website may say that Fred has 35+ Years of experience on there, but his professionalism is far from ideal. A true professional should be proactive in helping his clients. I feel that Fred is trying to avoid his mistakes. I have no faith in this company, nor would I ever have any faith in Fred.
  
  Update.. it’s been day 3 since I last spoke to Fred and still no response or call back from him.
  
  Please avoid this place at all costs.
